Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

Could we get a demo for it?

Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

Well, the login page doesn't look different from the previous version. But what about when you're logged in? Could you post some images of that?

The main reason for this update was because all the code relied on images and css from web-dz's old website, which is expiring this week. Therefore this prevents the theme from suddenly stop working for your clients.

The idea is to update to prevent this from happening.

Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

Ohh, okay. Then no changes until now. Where is the images and CSS files stored/hosted? I don't hope it's on your website, because I hope that you know that YouHosting sites are very often down.

Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

They are uploaded to your own main server, so if your main site is online, so is your control panel.

It prevents any domain related problems in the future. I have added install instructions to the first post now.

Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

I have to say that having them on your master domain isn't the smartest idea. I'd use Amazon S3 instead but that's just me.

But S3 costs money. Not a lot, but it does. And if you're using a free domain, I don't think you're willing to invest in other people being able to use the theme.

Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

I could put the files on a CDN. But does it make sence?

Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

The idea was that each user has their own version that is easier to edit and will not disappear like V1 is soon going to when domains go expired. If you are already focused on uptime, I would suppose your main domain would already be hosted on another server or CDN,  which would prevent the need for a CDN for the theme files.

Also, hosting the files on a single server removes the while label that everybody is always talking about.

Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

Whatabout to host the images and CSS with dropbox or something like that?

Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

@IHOST It's stupid, the best would be to use a CDN.

Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

I believe Amazon S3 charges something like $0.000000001 per every quintillion requests.

I once did a full page test of one of my web pages. The total load time was just over a second, but half of that time was because Dropbox took 0.7s to respond to an image request. Dropbox is easy and free, but it's performance leaves something to be desired. And in the end, Dropbox is just a convenient frontend for Amazon so it would be faster to cut down the middle man. And I have no idea what S3 costs in practice, I've been using it for server backups for a few weeks now.

I'm using the free usage tier, EC2 instance with windows 2008.

https://cloudinary.com offers CDN with 500MB free storage. Try it.

Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

S3 isn't a CDN, it's a full file storage service.

It's best to use dropbox to host a status website so your clients can access it even if your main site goes down. It doesn't have to have lightening speed for that.

Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

Hello,

the background images seem to be down.

Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

The background works for me http://msdhosting.tk/cpanel/img/grey.jpg

Here's an imgur link http://i.imgur.com/oQNd0wl.jpg

Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

At my End it doesn't work: http://cpanel.alecsoft.biz/.

Re: BoxLight Theme V1.3! <---- (BoxPanel V1.X with a new name!)

In your style you linked to http://boxpanel.tk/themefiles/v1/img/grey.jpg for the background. That does not exist. Save it to your server and change the url in the CSS box
